Synopsis of Incident:On November 23, 2020, at about 1852 hours, Cathedral City Police Department was dispatched to a report of a man down at Avenida Del Yermo and Ramon Road in Cathedral City, CA. CCPD Officers arrived on scene and discovered the injured male was an assault victim. The victim, Ricardo Gallardo (24 year old Cathedral City resident) was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs where he succumbed to his injuries. CCPD Officers and CCPD Detectives began a homicide investigation. In August 2023, CCPD Detectives presented the homicide case to the Riverside County District Attorney office. The RiversideCounty District Attorney’s office filed the case with the Superior Court of Riverside and two arrest warrants were issued for the arrest of the suspects in this case. Through the investigation CCPD Detectives were able to identify the two homicide suspects as, Johnny Ramirez (30 year old resident of Escondido) and Edgar Navez (31 year old resident of Desert Hot Springs).

On 08/08/23 CCPD Detectives and Riverside County Gang Impact Team located and arrested Johnny Ramirez in the city of Escondido. Ramirez was booked into the Riverside County Jail, Southwest Detention Center for murder. Edgar Navez has not been located and is currently wanted for this murder. Navez currently has a $1,000,000.00 warrant for his arrest. A wanted flier for Navez is attached to this email.
